Description from the seller

"Jeholosaurus in Stillness - A Cretaceous
Form Captured in Time"

Jeholosauridae is a family within the Ornithopoda suborder, which lived in Asia during the Cretaceous period-from the Aptian to the Santonian stages, and possibly surviving into the Campanian stage.

This specimen was acquired from an elderly collector and is identified as Jeholosaurus shangyuanensis. Fossils of this newspecies have been discovered in tuffaceous (volcanic ash) layers, suggesting they were buried by volcanic eruptions.

Jeholosaurus had relatively flat cheek teeth resembling those of herbivores, but also had sharp premaxillary teeth more typical of carnivores. This combination suggests that Jeholosaurus was likely an omnivore, feeding on plants, insects, and small animals.

This specimen measures 63 cm in length and would reach approximately 70 cm when fully straightened, making it comparable in size to the holotype specimen and indicating a juvenile or subadult individual.

After entering the collection, the skull underwent professional restoration and preparation to enhance its structural detail and three-dimensional appearance. The well-preserved cranial anatomy, together with its clearly defined teeth, showcases a remarkable level of anatomical detail.

Note: As this specimen is preserved in a three-dimensional form, its bones are extremely small and fragile, making perfect preservation during excavation impossible. As a result, cracks and restoration traces are present throughout much of the skeleton, which is very common among small dinosaur specimens. Aside from some of the delicate ribs, which show a greater degree of breakage or loss, the remainder of the skeleton consists of original fossil material, and the specimen still retains a high degree of completeness overall.

The rib support frame does not have any welded structures to support the bones. In the photos, museum gel was used to hold them in place, which will not damage the fossil. They can also be secured using materials such as wire.

Each bone will be carefully packaged to minimize the risk of damage during transportation. Glue will also be included just in case.

Offered with care for collectors who value rarity, beauty, and quiet distinction.
