Antique copper tulband cake mold with a tin-lined interior, dating to circa 1875–1925, made in the Netherlands, featuring a richly ribbed exterior and a central shaft, 7 cm high and 17.5 cm in diameter.
Description from the seller
Antique copper Bundt cake mould – tin-lined interior – late 19th / early 20th century
A particularly decorative and heavily made antique copper baking mould, dating from circa 1890–1910.
The mould features the classic round Bundt shape with a raised shaft in the middle. The surface is richly built up with deep ribs, point-shaped geometric ornaments and a handsome fan-shaped division. This created an especially detailed cake or pudding after baking.
The outside is in warm red copper and has, by now, developed an attractive natural patina. The inside is tin-lined, as was customary for high-quality copper kitchenware from this period. The tin layer shows clear wear and localized abrasion, which nicely demonstrates the long history of use of the object.
Also notable is the star-shaped opening at the top of the central shaft. On the outside there is a small metal suspension eye, so the mould could originally be easily hung on a kitchen rack.
On the inside there is a small stamped trademark. This is no longer fully legible due to age and use, but forms an appealing authentic detail.
Because of its distinctive design, it is nowadays interesting not only as a historical kitchen object but especially as a decorative collectible. Very beautiful in a country kitchen, French kitchen, classical kitchen or a collection of old copper.
Dating: late 19th century / early 20th century, circa 1890–1910
Material: copper with tin-lined inside
Type: Bundt cake mould / cake mould / pudding mould
Construction: richly profiled and ribbed decoration with central shaft
Details: suspension eye and old stamped trademark
The mould is in an authentically used condition with signs of age and wear. The tinning on the inside is locally worn and the copper shows patina, discoloration and small signs of use. These features fully match the age and contribute to the historic appearance.
Due to the age and wear of the tinning, this mould is offered as an antique collectible and decorative object; for modern culinary use its suitability first needs to be assessed.
A atmospheric and characterful piece of antique kitchenware that will appeal to both collectors of old copper and enthusiasts of historical kitchen objects.
