Space Cruiser Yamato - 4 Promotional Material - 1977

A group of four original Japanese cinema items for the Space Battleship Yamato franchise, known internationally as Star Blazers, issued in Japan between 1977 and 1983. All are period originals from the time of release — not reproductions or later reprints.

1. Space Battleship Yamato (1977)

Official theatre programme for the first feature film. Published by Academy Co., Ltd., Tokyo, with the publisher's imprint on the rear cover. The cover shows the Yamato against a red planet; the rear cover carries the English tagline "Space Cruiser Yamato". Illustrated throughout in colour with film stills and story pages.

2. Arrivederci Yamato / Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato – Soldiers of Love (1978)

Official theatre programme for the second feature. Published by Office Academy Co., Ltd., Tokyo. Deep blue cover with the Yamato under full power, and a black rear cover bearing the Teresa artwork with the English title "Arrivederci Space Cruiser Yamato". Richly illustrated in colour.

3. Final Yamato (1983)

Official theatre programme for the final feature, issued for the 10th anniversary of Yamato and carrying the anniversary emblem on the cover. Published by West Cape Corporation, Tokyo. Black and red cover with the redesigned Yamato; the rear cover shows the galaxy and Teresa artwork.

4. Yamato Festival cinema flyer (1979)

Single-sheet chirashi for the "'79 Big Summer Roadshow — Space Battleship Yamato Festival", a double bill screening the first and second films together, with Triton of the Sea as the supporting feature. The reverse carries synopses of both films together with the imprint of the Oyama Toei cinema in Itabashi, Tokyo, and the screening date of 14 July. Flyers printed for a single named cinema were discarded after the run and survive in far smaller numbers than the programmes.

Credits appearing on these items include Yoshinobu Nishizaki (producer), Leiji Matsumoto (supervising director and design), Toshio Masuda (director) and Hiroshi Miyagawa (music).

Condition: sold as a used vintage group, with wear consistent with age and handling.

The 1977 programme shows the heaviest wear, with creasing across the covers, rubbing to the surface, edge and corner wear and small chips to the extremities. The 1978 programme has light creasing and surface rubbing to the covers with some edge wear. The 1983 programme and the 1979 flyer are notably cleaner, with only minor handling marks.

All four are complete, with no missing pages, no tears into the images and no writing. Please review all photos carefully, as they form part of the description.
