Magnificent and rare early photo pictorial by Japanese photographer Shinoyama on Saudi Arabia, with an electric presentation of dark color photos focused more on villagers and desolate landscapes than on royalty. Barely known Shinoyama book, and yet easily among his best. With commentary in Kanji by writer Shiwachi.

Unlike typical depictions of the region centered on wealth or royalty, Shinoyama presents a raw, striking look at Saudi Arabia. The book relies on rich, dark color photographs focusing intimately on local villagers, everyday life, and vast, desolate landscapes. It is considered one of Shinoyama's finest and most deeply atmospheric early documentary projects, though it remains relatively scarce and elusive within international library collections.
