Description from the seller

Pair of large Baroque-style church altar candelabras - Bronze - H 106 cm & 104 cm

Description of the piece

In auction, an imposing and magnificent matching pair of monumental candelabras (church torches) cast in bronze. The pieces draw inspiration from Italian Baroque canon, with a tall baluster-like shaft marked by geometric knots and moldings, resting on a majestic tripartite base enriched with scroll-like feet.

These are a fascinating period pairing: the two candelabras share the same structural and decorative design, yet show evident differences in proportions, base measurements, patina finish, and junction details of the stems. This uniqueness testifies to their antique artisanal workmanship and the collectible nature of the pieces, ideal for creating a visually striking focal point in prestigious living rooms or entryways.

(Note for experts: the vase visible in one of the gallery images is purely illustrative, providing an immediate visual reference to understand the grand scale and monumental dimensions of the candelabras).

The upper part terminates with wide drip plates shaped with a border of raised leaf-like points. As visible in the close-up photos, the top is prepared to accommodate the central pin (visible on one of the two elements), originally used to fix the large altar candles.

Structural Details Analysis (Stem and Base)

Left Candelabrum (H 104 cm / Base 21 cm): Features a more geometric shaft with a shiny metal collar at the top and narrower ring knots. It shows a dark casting with charming traces of natural oxidation (green patina) in the bronze recesses.

Right Candelabrum (H 106 cm / Base 28 cm): Has a more fluid and elongated shaft line and a lower, more pronounced baluster section. It retains a gold/antique brass patina that is decidedly more uniform and warm.

Technical Sheet

Material: Cast bronze
Style: Baroque / Altar style
Era: Late 19th Century / Early 20th Century
Quantity: 2 candelabras (matching pair / era-appropriate)
Condition: Good structural, stable and robust condition.

They feature a beautiful natural patina with the typical signs of time and use that enhance their authenticity.
One of the two drip plates lacks the protruding threaded pin (please observe carefully the gallery).

Shipping notes

Given the considerable weight of the bronze and the monumental height of the pieces, the items will require professional custom packaging (high-density foam and reinforced cardboard).

Shipping will be carried out via trackable express courier to ensure maximum safety during transport.
