AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rémy Martin – Centaure Cristal Baccarat Decanter – Numbered Carafe K 8471 – Signed Certificate of Authenticity, 1989 – Sealed – 70cl

Description

The finest piece in my collection: Rémy Martin "Centaure Cristal," first launched in December 1981 as one of the great prestige releases of the house — a very old Fine Champagne Cognac, blended from over 300 eaux-de-vie sourced exclusively from Grande and Petite Champagne, the two finest crus of the Cognac region, presented in a hand-crafted Baccarat crystal decanter made specially for Rémy Martin by Les Cristalleries de Baccarat, Vosges, France.
The decanter itself is a striking heavy scalloped-crystal piece, engraved in gold script "E. Rémy Martin & Co," with a green suede-wrapped stopper collar and a faceted crystal stopper, embodying Baccarat's renowned lead-crystal craftsmanship.

This example is exceptional both for its content and its documentation:

Individually numbered decanter, Carafe No. K 8471

Accompanied by the original signed Certificate of Authenticity, dated 27 September 1989, hand-signed by André Hériard-Dubreuil, President of Rémy Martin, bearing the embossed centaur seal and confirming this exact carafe number.

Housed in the original forest green suede-covered presentation box with a cast gilt-bronze "Centaure Cristal – Rémy Martin – Fine Champagne" plaque to the lid, and ivory satin interior lining.

Complete with the original outer card shipping box printed "Centaure Cristal – Rémy Martin – Fine Champagne Cognac".

Sealed and full — the green fabric-wrapped neck seal is intact and appears untouched

No visible chips or damage to the crystal or stopper

Rémy Martin's Centaure Cristal is widely recognised among cognac collectors as one of the most desirable prestige decanters the house has produced — the combination of genuine Baccarat crystal, a documented ~50-year-old Fine Champagne blend, and (critically) an intact, matching, hand-signed certificate of authenticity is uncommon. Many examples on the market today are missing their certificate entirely, or the certificate number doesn't match the decanter — this one is a confirmed, correctly matched pair.

Contents: 70cl, 40% vol.
