Chandelier - Gilt bronze

This antique chandelier is a beautiful example of a classic Empire- or Regency-style chandelier, characterized by its recognizable 'marmite' shape (a deep, bowl-shaped central firepot). The combination of gilded copper or bronze (bronze doré) and the dark patinated or black lacquered metal gives the fixture a stately, neoclassical appearance.
