Description from the seller
Cast iron mailbox
Royal Mail E II R produced by Machan Scotland, a decorative and collectible example of a British mailbox from the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. On the front there is a raised inscription “Royal Mail” and the royal monogram with a crown. On the front part of the box there is also the cast maker’s mark “Machan Scotland.” The box retains its opening front doors, the lock with key, and internal metal fittings. The item is in preserved, unrestored condition. Visible are natural signs of age and use, including wear, losses of red paint, localized oxidation marks, and other signs of prior use. They were deliberately left as such; the name was masked and not renewed. Due to the heavy cast-iron construction, the box is heavy, which should be taken into account when arranging shipping or personal pickup. Please carefully review all photographs, as they form an integral part of the item description.
