Daum - Vase - Glass - Amber and Iris 1895

square-shaped vase in amber glass, with straight sides and a slightly flared neck, with a dentellated edge highlighted in gold.

The iris decoration — flowers, stems and foliage — is acid-etched in relief on the amber background, then entirely gilded with gold. The lighter background reserves create a luminous contrast with the deep brown of the periphery. The interior of the vase is completely gilt, as is the lip.

Signed beneath the base « Daum + Nancy » in gold, in cursive script, with the Croix de Lorraine, in a square cartouche.
