From an old collection
Two old hunting/curved daggers, Afar Jile, from Ethiopia. Blade hand-forged in iron and very finely worked, sharpened on both sides in a curved blade shape. Pommel: 1x bronze/brass. Grip with hardwood and wire wrap in nickellike metal and brass. Sheath inner wood; exterior worked with animal leather and fur—see photos. Date: first half of the 20th century. Condition: used and good, with signs of aging and wear; blades slightly encrusted.
One piece with belt and carrying strap.
Total length approx. 61 cm and approx. 39 cm. Blade widths approx. 70 mm and 40 mm.
