Georges Brunel - Portrait de Léon Bourgeois

I am offering for sale an ancient photographic portrait of Léon Bourgeois dated 1919, produced as an official portrait and bearing the handwritten signature of Geo Brunel, corresponding to George Brunel.
This photograph presents several features that distinguish it from a simple old photographic portrait.
The subject is the portrait of Léon Bourgeois, 1851–1925, French statesman and jurist, diplomat who held several government positions.
The year 1919 is particularly significant in his career; Léon Bourgeois was the leading figure in the project for the creation of the League of Nations, and he subsequently received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1920.
The portrait shows him in an official full-dress attire, in a toga-like robe and solemn garments, which gives the photograph a strongly institutional character.

One of the most interesting features of this piece is the lift directly drawn on the print with pencil and charcoal; these interventions are visible in different parts of the portrait.
It is therefore not simply a documentary photographic print; the print has undergone artistic manual work.
The signature on the photograph is a handwritten signature Geo Brunel (Georges Brunel), 1860–1851, physicist, photographer, author of a Photography Manual, also known by the pseudonym Philogone.
Condition: normal signs of aging; the reverse is blank without stamp or label inscription.
