Marantz - 2500 Solid state stereo receiver

Item History & Description:
Up for auction is a true "Holy Grail" of vintage audio: the mighty Marantz 2500 Stereophonic Receiver (Serial Number: U070064).

This receiver has undergone a comprehensive, no-expense-spared electronic restoration to ensure it performs perfectly. Extensive restoration work includes:
- Main filter capacitors replaced to ensure a dead-quiet noise floor (zero hum).
- All controls, pots, switches, sliders, and jacks cleaned and treated with FaderLube.
- Upgraded with new soft white LEDs, including a new stereo lamp.
- Complete recap of the amp boards and replacement of all output transistors with high-end OnSemi devices.
- Soft start and protection relays replaced with brand-new units, alongside upgraded wire-wound resistors.
- Power supply completely rebuilt with new transistors, capacitors, and diodes.
- Fully calibrated (power supply set to 35VDC, bias at 25mV, DC offset at 0mV).
- Tuner board recapped, yielding excellent AM/FM reception and stereo separation.
- The iconic built-in oscilloscope is working perfectly! It is bright, sharp, has no screen burn-in, and shows a beautiful "popcorn" display on FM Stereo stations.

Cosmetically, the faceplate is in great shape with no bent corners, and it retains all original knobs, including the rare double-set-screw volume knob. There are some dings and scratches typical of a 50-year-old receiver, and a small dent on the back of the top cover on the left rear.
