Description from the seller

This modern, creatively designed wooden mustard seed doll, handcrafted by renowned Japanese traditional craftsman Aoki Tateka, originates from the birthplace of the Mokusaku (wooden mustard seed) craft in Tohoku, Japan. It inherits the traditional Japanese technique of carving from a single piece of wood, without any splicing, resulting in a refined, warm, and rustic craftsmanship. Approximately 13cm tall with a base diameter of 4cm, the doll portrays a gentle and serene young woman. Her eyes are gently closed, her expression soft and soothing. A three-dimensional red wooden bow adorns her head, and her bangs are delicately hand-painted. She wears a beige kimono, hand-painted with red and white chrysanthemum patterns, accented with gold details, and the sleeves are exquisitely detailed and lively. The doll's base is engraved with the artist's signature and comes with an original collector's box, exuding a rich Japanese aesthetic. It possesses both decorative and collectible value, making it an elegant addition to any home or as a gift.

This item is a vintage Japanese piece. Over time, the wood shows signs of natural oxidation, and the gilding has worn off slightly. The original cardboard box is old and has damaged edges, giving it a distinct sense of age.
