Taperstick (2) - Bronze

Elegant pair of antique gilded bronze candlesticks, dating probably from the first half of the 19th century, around 1830–1860.

Both candlesticks feature rich ornamentation consisting of scrolls, volutes, vegetal and floral motifs, finely worked. The bobeches are particularly ornate and rest on slender shafts, enhanced by several molded elements and substantial relief decoration.

The circular bases, wide and stable, are also abundantly adorned with vegetal and geometric motifs. The whole testifies to a fine decorative quality and careful craftsmanship.

The candlesticks show an old patina, with darker areas and some signs of oxidation in the hollows and under the bases, as well as natural wear to the gilded surface. These marks are consistent with their age and contribute to their antique appearance.

Condition: good antique condition, with patina, wear and traces of oxidation visible in the photographs which are an integral part of the description.

A handsome decorative pair, particularly interesting for the richness of its decoration and its presentation as a perfectly matched ensemble.
