Rarest copy signed on the title page by Lewis Baltz (1945 – 2014). This is the catalogue of an exhibition presented at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris from March to May 1993 under the title "Lewis Baltz: Rule Without Exception." Edition de la Différence, 1993. 23 x 23 cm, 156 pages, 36 black-and-white photographs and 10 color photographs. Black cloth binding with a very fine facsimile signature embossed in red on the cover and the title also embossed in red on the back, illustrated dust jacket.

Lewis Baltz has always been a topographer and a seeker of forms. His photographic series document places of industrial civilization: wastelands, industrial wastelands, warehouses as homes. Their forms are inscribed in the space of daily life and are approached through their correspondence with forms of contemporary art. Piles of garbage appear as land art, the lettering on shop windows as language art, lamps and window frames as minimalist objects in situ. Baltz’s approach reveals a reflective knowledge of photography, inasmuch as it makes the photographer a visual guide whose restrained gesture makes things visible.
