Stunning silver religious miniature, this object is known as the "Bossolo di Sant'Antonio", a small Catholic devotional pocket sanctuary or amulet.
It consists of a cylindrical case with a sliding closure, inside it houses a miniature depicting Saint Anthony of Padua with the Child Jesus.
Historically it was carried by the faithful in a pocket, in a bag, or while traveling as a sign of protection and spiritual trust.
Excellent Italian craftsmanship from the mid-20th century, hallmarks visible in the photo.
