Description from the seller
An extraordinary Oriental tray table is for sale, featuring a large, heavily engraved brass tray and an elaborately worked folding wooden frame with light geometric inlays.
Stylistically, the table matches traditional Syrian/Levantine tray tables, commonly associated with Damascus craftsmanship. The six-legged base is made of dark-stained or dark-patinated wood. The long geometric inlay panels are presumably bone and/or mother-of-pearl. The construction is completed by turned elements and small decorative galleries between the legs.
Particularly impressive is the large detachable brass tray. Its entire surface is engraved with extremely fine, concentrically arranged Oriental motifs. The wavy/faceted raised edge adds further dimensionality to the tray. The tray can be removed from the frame; the base folds up compactly for storage.
The piece is presented in an authentic vintage/antique condition that appears unrestored. Visible are patina from age and wear, oxidation or discoloration of the metal, and signs of use on the wood and inlays. These were intentionally not removed and are part of the object's historical character. Please consider all photos as part of the condition description.
