Papal Apostolic Blessing – Pius XI (1922-1939)
Rare richly illuminated Catholic devotional document, featuring a photographic portrait of Pope Pius XI, accompanied by a personalized apostolic blessing granted to “Marguerite Schwertfeger and her family.”
The document is adorned with historiated multi-colored initials, papal arms, and a large dry seal of the Vatican. The text grants the apostolic blessing as well as the plenary indulgence in articulo mortis (at the hour of death), according to the official formula then in use.
Signed by Carolus Pansoni, bishop and officer of the Roman Curia, with a handwritten note dated 11 April 1920. Preserved old gilded frame.
Overall good condition, with slight signs of wear consistent with age.
