Beautifully silvered spherical pyxis and round pyxis.

The pyxis with a spherical body, dome-shaped lid, profiled edges, closes at the front and has an elevated foot. Liturgical parament for storing and/or transporting consecrated hosts. The spherical pyxis bears a maker's mark on the closure. Dimensions: height 8.4 cm. Ø 8 cm

The heavily silvered round pyxis is the host box used in the Roman Catholic Church for visiting the sick. The pyxis bears the mark of Orfèvrerie Mills. Orfèvrerie Mills (H.N. Mills & Cie) was a well-known Belgian silversmith and manufacturer of silver-plated cutlery and tableware.
