Solid silver statuette – Immaculate Virgin on a starry globe – Spain, star hallmark (.915), circa 1935–1960
Beautiful religious statuette in solid silver depicting the Immaculate Virgin.
The Virgin is depicted standing, hands crossed over the chest, gaze turned to the sky. She rests on a globe adorned with eight‑pointed stars, Marian symbol. The statuette is mounted on a turned blackened wooden base.
The work is in repoussé and chased silver, with an expressive rendering of the face and drapery.
• Origin: Spain
• Period: around 1935–1960
• Material: solid silver (finest .915/1000) and base in blackened wood
• Hallmark: official Spanish hallmark “five‑pointed star in a circle” (in use from 1934, guaranteeing .915/1000 fineness) – visible at the base of the garment (see photos)
Condition: good overall; small old cracks visible at the junction between the globe and the robe, wear and surface rubbing consistent with age; base slightly marked.
