Olivetti typewriter from Ivrea, transformed into a decorative light sculpture, in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Old Olivetti typewriter transformed into a luminous sculpture – integrated LEDs – a unique decorative piece
Description:
Old mechanical Olivetti typewriter repurposed as a luminous decorative object.
The machine retains its main original elements: the mechanical keyboard, type bars, carriage, roller, and the plaque bearing the inscription “Ing. C. Olivetti e C. S.p.A. – Ivrea, Italia.” Its body has been given a gold finish with a deliberately patinated look.
A warm white LED lighting has been integrated around the keyboard and under the machine. When lit, it highlights the metal mechanisms and cast a warm ambient glow.
The piece fits perfectly in an office, a library, a hotel, a restaurant, a bar, or an industrial vintage-style interior.
History:
Founded in Ivrea in 1908 by Camillo Olivetti, the Olivetti company holds a major place in Italian industrial and cultural history. It stood out for its typewriters, but also for its attention to design, architecture, and visual communication.
In the 20th century, Olivetti collaborated with renowned designers and developed several machines that became iconic, notably the Lettera 22, launched in 1950. The Ivrea industrial heritage associated with Olivetti is today recognized for its importance in the history of modern design.
This antique specimen has been repurposed from its original use to become a contemporary decorative creation. The integrated lighting gives it a second life while preserving the aesthetics and visible mechanisms of the original machine.
Condition:
Antique item repurposed and sold as a decorative element, not as a typewriter intended for daily use.
The LED lighting is functional. The body shows marks, scratches, small paint chips, and areas of oxidation corresponding to its age and transformation. These traces contribute to its industrial character and patina.
The keyboard and mechanisms are present, but their functionality for typing is not guaranteed. Please review the photographs carefully, which are an integral part of the description.
