Description from the seller
Holy figurine.
A beautiful and characterful antique wooden holy figure from the 18th century, with a total height of 28 centimeters including the original base. This refined devotion object is hand-carved from a high-quality hardwood, presumably oak or fruitwood, and over the centuries has developed a splendid, deep dark-brown patina that uniquely enhances its historical appearance. The sculpture depicts a standing religious figure draped in a dynamic and richly pleated garment, very characteristic of Baroque period influences. The figurine stands on a beautifully designed, stepped Baroque pedestal adorned with stylized carving of foliate motifs. Given its compact size, this object was very likely used in the past for personal devotion on a home altar or private chapel.
As is often the case with authentic wooden sculptures of this age, the object remains in an honest, well-worn condition with natural signs of aging; for example, the left forearm has broken off over time and the original attribute in the hand is missing, and the item in the right hand also shows signs of wear. These imperfections testify to the rich history and tangible age of the piece. A wonderful collector's item and a valuable addition for enthusiasts of early religious art, antique sculptures, and Baroque interior pieces. The lot measures 28 x 12 x 9 cm and weighs 180 grams. It is packaged with the utmost care and shipped worldwide with Track & Trace.
