Small Dutch Empire commode, with across all drawers a continuous blond floral mahogany veneer and a beautiful mahogany top panel.
Half-turned mahogany pillars with original special fire-gilded brass capitals. All drawers have their original 18th-century locks!
The top drawer is slightly shallower, the depth of the drawers increases as you go down. All drawers have beautifully detailed fire-gilded oval brass fittings with a ‘heart’ motif.
Fully on block feet with a plinth.
Netherlands, good quality, circa 1815.
Dimensions:
H = 86 cm.
W = 95 - 97 cm. (narrowest - widest)
D = 40 - 44.5 cm. (shallowest - deepest)
Recently thoroughly checked for loose construction parts and veneer, the surface finish in terms of color and gloss.
No live woodworm found as of 15/8/2026
