Raw Ethiopian opal in crystal form, 106 g (about 530 ct), originating from Ethiopia with a natural matrix.
Description from the seller
Ethiopean rough opal – 106 g / approx. 530 ct – pronounced play of color – natural matrix
Offered is an extraordinary rough opal from Ethiopia weighing 106 grams, corresponding to about 530 carats.
Among the various Ethiopian rough opals in my collection, this piece personally stands out to me as one of the visually most attractive specimens. The stone combines larger transparent to translucent opal areas with natural matrix and a clearly visible play of color.
Characteristics
Weight: 106 g
Corresponds to: approx. 530 ct
Origin: Ethiopia
Condition: natural rough stone / uncut / unpolished
The stone shows different opal zones. Particularly striking are the larger light yellow to honey-colored, and almost colorless translucent areas. Depending on the viewing angle and light incidence, different hues and levels of transparency appear within the material.
Photography and condition in the shots
The photographs were taken in natural sunlight, partly with direct or light directed at the stone to make transparency, internal structure, and the existing play of color visible.
The stone was moistened for the photographs.
This must be noted: A moistened surface as well as strong or direct sunlight can visually intensify transparency, gloss, base color, and especially the play of color of a rough opal compared to a dry stone under normal room lighting.
The photos aim to document the different sides, matrix areas, inclusions, natural surfaces, and visible color zones as detailed as possible.
Note on Ethiopian opal
Ethiopian opals can be hydrophane and can absorb or release water. As a result, transparency, appearance, weight, and color effect can temporarily change. Natural stresses and fracture formation cannot be completely ruled out in rough opal.
Private sale / important notes
The sale is private.
The description has been prepared to the best of my knowledge based on my own observations. Since I am a private seller and not a gemological institute, I do not assume liability for accidentally incorrect information regarding mineralogical or gemological identification, condition, origin, or other properties of the stone.
The numerous photos are an explicit part of the item description. They show the stone that is actually offered and should enable the buyer to form their own assessment of color, transparency, matrix, inclusions, natural fracture surfaces, and overall condition.
Private sale with exclusion of liability for defects to the extent permitted by law. No warranty and no returns.
