Decorative bronze bust of the Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius (reigned AD 138–161), presented on an elegant classical-style pedestal. The finely modelled bronze bust features detailed facial characteristics, hair, beard and richly draped Roman attire, enhanced by an attractive aged patina. The pedestal is decorated with a Roman imperial eagle and a metal plaque inscribed “IMPERATOR ANTONINUS PIUS 138–161”. An important detail is the visible artist’s mark stamped on the reverse of the bronze bust, as shown in the photographs.
The sculpture is in excellent condition and has an impressive overall weight of 2481 g.
Dimensions: approximately 32 × 11 × 8 cm.
