Description from the seller
Napoleon III Tea Box in Burl Wood and Marquetry – 19th Century – Brass & Mother-of-Pearl
Elegant antique tea box, dating from the second half of the 19th century, Napoleonic III / Second Empire period.
This writing case is made of precious wood, veneered with carefully selected burl, offering deep, lively grain characteristic of high-quality 19th-century productions.
It is richly adorned with fine brass inlay marquetry, forming a symmetric foliage design of great finesse.
The lid features a central THÉ cartouche, indicating its use.
The wavy moulding of the lid and base, the brass fillets, and the elaborately decorated inlays are typical of luxury objects from the Napoleonic III period.
The compartmentalized interior and overall good condition confirm the original use as a tea box intended for storing loose-leaf teas.
