Erzgebirgische Volkskunst Richard Glässer traditional nutcracker, 8-piece set, carved from maple, beech and linden wood, Germany, dating to 1960–1970, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Traditional Nutcracker,8 pieces
The nutcracker as a muscular hussar or king is one of the classic figures of folk art from the Ore Mountains. He truly fulfills his function, even though he does not transform into an irresistibly handsome prince as in the ballet "The Nutcracker". This nutcracker can be used to crack nuts up to the size of hazelnuts if necessary. It looks even better as a traditional Christmas decoration, not least thanks to its careful craftsmanship from maple, beech, and linden wood.
Erzgebirgische Volkskunst Richard Glässer. Made in the factory founded in 1932. The traditional Seiffen figures, based on characteristic twisted forms, are primarily handcrafted here. Countless processing steps are required until the local wood—sourced exclusively from certified forestry—takes its final shape.
