Description from the seller
Amber pendant / cabochon / new
Set in 925 sterling silver
Includes leather cord
New and unworn
Amber refers to the yellow gemstone known for thousands of years and widely distributed, especially in the Baltic region, ranging from transparent to opaque, formed from fossil resin.
This mostly refers to a specific fossil resin; this amber in the narrow sense is the type of amber with the scientific name Succinite.
The terms succinite and Baltic amber are often used synonymously, since succinite makes up by far the largest part of Baltic amber. The other fossil resins in Baltic amber originate from different plant species and are also referred to as “amber in the broader sense.”
Some occur together with succinite, e.g. the amber varieties Gedanit, Glessit, Beckerit and Stantienit long known from Baltic deposits. These are also called accessory resins.
Dimensions: 27.5 mm x 18.7 mm x 10.0 mm
Weight: 6.34 g (weighed without the leather cord)
Shipping as insured registered mail
