Islamic bronze aspersoir bottle from the 10th century, in good condition with inscriptions and decorative motifs, provenance British private collection.
Description from the seller
Bronze pear-shaped sprinkler bottle, resting on a tall, flared foot.
The neck, graciously extended into the body, is adorned with an interlaced frieze on its upper part.
The funnel-shaped spout opens to a decoration featuring a horizontal row of seven protruding knobs.
The bottle's flat shoulder bears a calligraphic inscription, while the body is adorned with decorative medallions and a scroll-like frieze.
The foot also bears an inscription, framed by bands with wavy motifs.
It is rare for such pieces to bear an inscription.
The shape of this sprinkler bottle resembles that of similar bottles found in Ghazni, in Sistan, at Afrasiyab and at Rayy.
Another similarly shaped bottle, discovered in Egypt and housed in the Coptic Museum in Cairo, has been attributed to Egypt.
Dimensions: Height 20.6 cm – diameter 10.8 cm
Excellent condition – intact, with only a slight fragility at the shoulder

British private collection, from an old London collection assembled in the 1990s.
