Beautiful antique Igala statue from Nigeria. It has suffered the ravages of time and attacks by wood-boring insects. The piece is solid throughout, and no pests reside in it. The sculpture is well executed. The sculptor has managed to give life to his work. The face is expressive, serene and benevolent. The gaze is deep. A scarification adorns his face. It is a sensitive and powerful work. Beautiful old patina from use; it’s a piece that has lived. Sold as is, see photo. The arm is nailed on. An inventory number is visible at the base, 913.
