Description from the seller
Very rare German photo book by Leni Riefenstahl, including a newspaper article about a helicopter crash in the year 2000 in which the author of this book was injured. All in wonderfully fresh condition (hard to find in any condition).
"The author, a talented swimmer and artist, Leni Riefenstahl also took an early interest in dance, took dance lessons, and performed across Europe. After she saw a promotional poster for the 1924 film “The Mountain of Fate,” Riefenstahl was inspired to switch to acting. Between 1925 and 1929 she acted in five successful feature films. In 1932, Riefenstahl decided to direct, with her own film “The Blue Light.” In the 1930s she directed “Triumph of the Will” and Olympia, which drew worldwide attention and acclaim. The films are widely regarded as two of the most powerful and technically innovative propaganda films of all time. However, her involvement in “Triumph of the Will” seriously damaged her career and reputation after the war. The exact nature of her relationship with the NSDAP leader Adolf Hitler remains controversial. It is believed, however, that Hitler worked closely with Riefenstahl on the production of at least three important NS films and that a closer friendship may have existed." Verlag Hesse und Becker, Leipzig. 1933. First edition.
Original edition in linen binding. 165 x 245 mm. 116 pages. 155 photographs. Text in German.
