AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

640 g Rare Quartz Mango Halloysite rough Cabiche Quipama Colombia, discovered 2017

Nice cluster, composed of young tips, with mango termination and a vitreous luster.
On a calcite matrix, the host rock (black) and limonite.
None of my quartz specimens has been cleaned with oxalic acid, only with a karsher.

- Unique origin SOLD OUT: Cabiche emerald mine, Municipality of Quipama, Boyacá, Colombia.
- Dimensions: 15.5 × 10 × 7 cm
- Weight: 640 g

An incredible new discovery in 2017, of quartz with vivid yellow tips unique in the world, initially thought to be inclusions of Humboltidine published in Rocks and Mineral magazine.
Today we lean towards halloysite (See The Mineral Kingdom, issue: 154).
The coloration from white (coconut) to orange-yellow (mango) appears mainly in the fibers of the crystals, rather than on the surface. The surface coloration due to iron oxides has been ruled out.

The first crystal was exhibited for $8,350 at the Tucson Mineral Show (see photo).
There were very few matrix specimens and they sold very quickly.
