Rare and impressive large-format specialist portfolio devoted to Asian and Oriental carpets and textile art.
Published in Munich in 1995, this first edition contains high-quality large-format colour plates showing important historic carpets and textiles from Persia/Iran, Anatolia, India and other regions, accompanied by detailed scholarly and technical information.
Original dark-blue presentation binding/portfolio with decorative textile illustration on the front.
Dimensions: approximately 45 × 32 cm.
The complete edition was originally issued with:
* 108 image plates, of which 107 are in colour
* 108 corresponding text leaves/pages
* 5 transparent analytical schematic overlays
IMPORTANT – INCOMPLETE COPY:
This copy contains 107 of the original 108 image plates. Only image plate no. 3 is missing.
Text leaves/pages numbered 65 through 107 are missing.
Four of the original five transparent analytical overlays are present; one of these consists of two separate sections.
The plates and text pages that are present are generally in very clean and attractive condition, with vivid colours and high-quality printing.
The great majority of the important illustrated plates are therefore still present, making this an attractive specialist reference and collector’s portfolio despite the missing text section.
