Celebrated and discussed worldwide, the Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki is, without a doubt, one of the most interesting and innovative figures in contemporary art. Not only for his scandalous bondage or other accounts of a Tokyo by night where anything is allowed, but above all for his ability to blend the past with the present, formal rigor with cutting-edge technology, always balancing reason and emotions, and always able to involve everyone who comes into contact with him. Araki Gold is, after several years, a completely new work, a collection of photographs almost all unpublished, based on the splendid Ginza series he produced in the sixties. Many Love Stories, like the very elegant Bondages, have also been recently produced and join the new ColorRays series and the unusual portraits of noble Japanese families. The set is completed by the indispensable Tokyo Diary that continues to the present day.
