Description from the seller
Elegant antique two-door wardrobe, dating from the 19th century, characterized by sober and monumental architectural shapes reminiscent of the Empire/Biedermeier taste. The piece features a beautiful walnut surface and walnut veneer, particularly decorative in the large molded top frame and in the lower plinth, where the natural figuring of the wood creates a striking ornamental effect.
The front is divided by two wide paneled doors, framed by vertical stiles. At the bottom there is a large retractable drawer, practically hidden in the plinth when closed.
The interior preserves traditional wood construction, with a back panel made from boards and paneling. It has a shelf and a clothes rail. The hardware and locking mechanisms are visible in the photographs and contribute to the historical character of the piece.
The construction of the back, unfinished interiors, and traces of workmanship are consistent with an antique piece.
The wardrobe is in overall good condition considering its age, with patina and normal signs of use. There are scratches, small abrasions, irregular finish, traces of past interventions and wear, particularly visible on the back and in non-visible parts. The interior of the lower drawer features a padded lining, presumably applied later.
The photographs show in detail the conservation state and form an integral part of the description.
Dimensions (approx.):
Height 236 cm
Depth 50 cm
Width 157 cm
