Statuette of Eshu, Fon/Nago culture, Benin. Height 37 cm

Beautiful representation of Eshu, the guardian of the roads and messenger of the gods. He is in action, with a flute at his mouth, ready to lead or guide men on the paths of life. The sculpture is beautiful, the figure is alive. His gaze is piercing, hypnotic and of rare intensity. The sculptor managed to breathe life into his work and make us share an emotion. The patina is superb, attesting to the age of this work. The whole is well balanced and radiates a particular presence. A beautiful antique and authentic voodoo collectible piece. Circa 1940.

Belle représentation de Eshu, le gardien des routes et messager des dieux. Il est en action, flute à la bouche prêt a diriger ou guider les hommes sur les chemins de la vie. La sculpture est belle, le personnage est vivant. Son regard est perçant, hypnotique et d'une rare intensité. Le sculpteur a su insufflée la vie à son oeuvre et nous faire partager une émotion. La patine est superbe attestant de l'âge de cette oeuvre. L'ensemble est bien équilibré et dégage une présence particulière. Une belle pièce de collection Vaudou ancienne et authentique. Circa 1940.
