Centrepiece -

This pair of items is when antique pieces and products from the Rékosi era blur together; I know it’s a strange pairing in many people’s minds, but that’s how it came to me—perhaps because I kept a lot of jewelry in a wooden box. The box, for its age, is roughly from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. I think this is a small, elegant casket made of wood; the decorations on the top are brass, and the inside is milk glass with a bottom that is cracked. The necklace is special because it’s made from steel screws and small plates; earlier it was painted with enamel flecks, but most of that has worn off, and the length of this unusual “jewel” is 50 cm.
