Description from the seller
Ernemann Bobette I –
Rare miniature strut-folding camera (ca. 1925) with Ernoplast 1:4.5 f=5cm lens
Offered for the connoisseur and collector: a historically very interesting and rare Ernemann Bobette I folding camera (strut-folding model) from the roarin g twenties (ca. 1925-1926).
This miniature model was produced by the renowned factory Ernemann-Werke AG in Dresden, just before they merged into the well-known Zeiss Ikon group.
The Bobette I was one of the very first cameras to use an early type 35mm film (unperforated on a roll with paper backing), which makes it a crucial milestone in the history of compact photography.
This specific exemplar stands out for the mounting of the high-quality Ernemann-Anastigmat Ernoplast f/4.5 5cm lens (serial number: 204507). This type of lens is highly sought-after among collectors and rarer than the standard mounted Erid lenses.
Features and specifications:
Brand: Ernemann-Werke AG (Dresden, Germany)
Model: Bobette I (First series)
Production period: Circa 1925 – 1926
Lens serial number: 204507
Lens: Ernemann-Anastigmat Ernoplast 1:4.5 f=5cm
Shutter: Ernemann early sector shutter (times: Z, 100, 50, 25)
Film type: Early 35mm format (special unperforated roll film)
Construction: Strut-folding (scissor mechanism with fold-out bellows)
Condition: The camera is in a well-used, authentic vintage state. There is age-related loss of lacquer on the metal front panel and wear/patina on the leather covering of the body (see photos for an accurate personal impression). The inscriptions "Ernemann Dresden" and "Bobette I" are beautifully legible.
