Art Deco gentleman’s travelling grooming case from England (c. 1920–1930), brown leather with glass and metal fittings, 17.5 × 12 × 5 cm, opening to an original fitted interior with grooming accessories, in good condition with patina and two loosened internal straps.
Description from the seller
A particularly attractive 1920s–1930s gentleman’s fitted travelling grooming case. The compact rigid brown leather case measures approximately 17.5 × 12 × 5 cm and opens to reveal a beautifully arranged collection of original grooming accessories, including cut and moulded glass containers with metal fittings, matching cylindrical containers, comb with leather sleeve, shoehorn, mirror and further accessories, all housed within the original fitted interior. The combination of warm aged leather, glass and metal gives the set a wonderfully elegant Art Deco-period appearance. The items are original to the case and remain in excellent vintage condition, while the leather case displays an attractive age-related patina and wear consistent with use. Two of the internal leather retaining straps have loosened with age, as clearly visible in the photographs, but remain present. No maker’s marks have been identified. A very handsome and increasingly difficult-to-find complete gentleman’s travelling set, retaining considerable decorative appeal and period character.
