Antique Neoclassical cast brass back shell for a horsehair clothes brush, European, dating to circa 1880–1920, in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear; height 17 cm, width 5.5 cm, weight 145 g.

Antique Neoclassical Cast Brass Clothes Brush Back (Circa 1880–1920)
Overview: A stunning, highly decorative antique vanity and grooming accessory featuring a striking high-relief bust of a classical Greco-Roman goddess.
Origin: European (acquired in Copenhagen, Denmark; produced during the height of the pan-European Classical Revival movement).
Item Type: Back shell / casing for an antique horsehair clothes brush or fabric brush.
Style: Neoclassical / Classical Revival with Beaux-Arts architectural influences.
The Goddess Relief & Depiction: Features an exceptionally detailed high-relief bust of an ancient goddess (reminiscent of Athena or Artemis) positioned upright as the central crest. Her visage displays serene, classical facial features with a poised expression and clean contours. Framing her face are meticulously cast, thick braided strands of hair arranged with remarkable symmetry, crowned by a finely chased diadem and a delicate star motif.
Material: Solid cast brass with a rich, authentic vintage patina that accentuates the depth and texture of the casting.
Circa: Late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1880–1920).
Dimensions: Standard handheld clothes brush proportions.
Condition: Vintage antique condition showing surface wear, age spots, and natural patina consistent with age. Please note that this is the metal outer shell/back only (the original internal wooden block and horsehair bristles are missing), and four small pin/fastening holes are present along the interior rim edges where the brush insert was originally secured.
