Mattel - Barbie doll - 3 Vintage Mattel Poppen - 1963 - Barbie Twist 'N Turn & 2x Midge Doll (Brunette & Bubblecut/Flip) - 1960-1970 - Japan

Beautiful set of three original, vintage Mattel dolls from the 1960s for the serious collector. These iconic dolls bear the well-known early patent markings on the back (including the coveted Midge 1962-63 / Barbie 1958 patents).

"1958 Mattel, Inc. – U.S. Patented – U.S. Pat. Pend. – Made in Japan"

All dolls were produced in Japan, identifiable by the characteristic shape of the feet and the stamps. These are three original vintage Mattel dolls from the 1960s. Many people think, due to the stamps on the bottoms ("1958"), that they come from the 1950s, but that year is only the copyright on the patents.

The lot includes:
- Vintage Twist 'N Turn (TNT) Barbie (typical 'Mod-era' face with longer lashes and blonde hair and blue eyes, ca. 1967-1970). Equipped with a charming two-piece vintage outfit (white blouse and green floral skirt). Clearly marked with Made in "Japan" under the foot (see photo).
- Vintage Midge Doll (Brunette, ca. 1963): also an early Mod-era Twist ’n Turn-like version. Barbie’s best-known friend with her original red earrings and blue eyes. Dressed in her original red Midge swimsuit. Clearly marked with Made in "Japan" under the foot (see photo).
- Vintage Midge Doll (Bouffant/Flip hairstyle, ca. 1963): Doll with a shorter styled haircut and freckles. Includes a very lovely vintage blue-and-white ensemble with yellow details.

Condition: The dolls are in nice, used vintage condition with normal signs of aging consistent with their age (see detailed photos for the exact condition of the makeup, hair, and limbs). Hands intact. The limbs are sturdy and the bodies have no large cracks. The clothing is, as far as I can tell, largely original Mattel and further in used condition.
