The developmental history, from gatekeeper clocks, clocks for use in homes, tower clocks, and specialized accurate timepieces for various scientific and societal purposes.
A wide range of clock types is discussed in detail, as well as their origins regionally and nationally. Technical forgeries, materials, restorations, names of clockmakers, etc. pass under review.
