Description from the seller

Chinese export porcelain milk jug with gilded monogram "AR" – Qianlong period (1736–1795).

Elegant Chinese export porcelain milk jug from the Qianlong period (1736–1795), manufactured for the European market. The octagonal baluster-shaped jug has a gracefully formed pouring spout and a distinctive handle, richly decorated in underglaze blue with fine polychrome enamel and gilded details.

Centered on both sides is a beautifully executed gilded mirror monogram, probably the letters "AR", placed within a blue underglaze cartouche. The jug is further decorated with refined sprays of flowers in pink, purple and green, combined with a decorative blue-painted edge along the wavy rim. The combination of underglaze blue, famille rose enamel colors, and gilding is characteristic of high-quality Chinese export porcelain from the second half of the 18th century.

Monogram pieces like these were specially produced for affluent European patrons and are today beloved by collectors for their historic and decorative character.
