Description from the seller

A pair of rare Chinese Imari shell-shaped small bowls – Kangxi period (1662–1722)

A beautiful and decorative pair of Chinese porcelain shell-shaped bowls from the Kangxi period (1662–1722), executed in the beloved Imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue, iron red and richly gilded.

The bowls are crafted in an elegant shell shape with a flat foot and are richly decorated with a symmetrical floral motif. The central medallion is surrounded by stylized flowering branches, cartouches and scrollwork, rendered in deep cobalt blue with lively accents in iron red and refined gilding. The exterior is also richly painted with flowers and graceful ornaments, testifying to the high quality of the porcelain produced in this period for export.
