Fireplace pendulum - Ceramic - 1980-1989

A particularly decorative and imposing Italian mantel clock executed in deep cobalt blue and white glazed ceramic and richly finished with floral cartouches, pink-red rococo ornaments, and gold-toned metal embellishments.

The clock features a striking architectural, almost shield-shaped case with wavy contours. The upper clock body rests on an openwork plinth with curved legs, richly worked volutes, and floral gold-colored ornaments. The broad, stepped pedestal gives the whole a monumental appearance.
The design is clearly inspired by 18th-century Rococo and Louis XV styles, reinterpreted in the Italian Rococo Revival tradition. The combination of asymmetrical curls, flowers, gilding, curved lines, and deep cobalt blue creates a distinctly luxurious character.
Topping the clock is a gold-colored figure of an elegantly dressed 18th-century gentleman, probably intended as a courtier or cavalier. He holds his hat in his hand, a chivalrous gesture that aligns well with the gallant Rococo iconography. There are no indications that this is a reference to a specific historical person; the figurine should be seen mainly as a decorative symbol of the aristocratic 18th-century atmosphere.

The gold-colored dial has Roman numerals, elegant black hands, and a red second hand. Under XII there is the original gold-colored plate with “Quartz Movement.”
The battery-powered clock is a Hettich W45 – West Germany. The clock has been tested with a new 1.5 V LR14 / C alkaline battery. The movement functions. The decorative element with the gold-colored rotating spheres has not been tested separately for operation and is therefore offered as a decorative component.
