Vintage mid-century plant stand / étagère – wheel-shaped design – c. 1950s/1960s
A distinctly designed vintage plant stand or étagère in characteristic mid-century style, probably from the 1950s/1960s.
The most striking element is the large round wooden construction, realized as a wheel with metal spokes. Around this wheel are three separate raised platforms: one on top and one on each side. Together with the spacious lower shelf, it forms a playful and architectural design that draws attention from every angle.
The surfaces have a beautiful dark wood veneer with pronounced grain and are finished with a dark edge. The piece rests on four angled, tapered wooden legs, typical of design from this period. The combination of warm wood tones, curved wood, and metal spokes gives the furniture a distinct retro look.
Originally very suitable as a plant stand, but today also lovely to use as an étagère or display piece for ceramics, books, cameras, artworks, and other collectibles.
Condition
The furniture is in a neat vintage condition. There are signs of use and age appropriate to the item, including local light wear and small imperfections on edges, woodwork and finish. These contribute to the authentic vintage character. The construction and details have been photographed in detail; therefore, view the photos carefully for a good impression of the condition.
There is only a small raised edge at a corner of the table (see last photo). This is not conspicuous and is certainly not distracting. Otherwise the table is nearly perfect.
