Silver box by Francisco Vera – Spain, second half of the 20th century
Elegant silver box made by the prestigious Spanish goldsmith Francisco Vera, renowned for the extraordinary quality of his miniatures and decorative silver objects. His works stand out for the meticulous chiselling and relief work, becoming pieces highly valued by collectors of Spanish silverware.
The lid presents a refined high-relief scene inspired by a traditional rural setting, with a coachman and his horse beside a cart in front of a historic-looking building.
The whole is framed by a decorative border that enhances the composition. The sides show a continuous finely engraved floral ornamentation, while the interior is completely gilded (vermeil), providing an elegant contrast with the outside being silver-plated and offering excellent protection against oxidation.
