Large Delftware dish – De Drie Klokken – ca. 1720–1760

Very handsome and large Delft tin-glaze dish with a diameter of 34 cm, made at the Delft pottery De Drie Klokken in Delft. The dish is richly painted in cobalt blue on a white tin-glaze ground and forms a fine example of the high-quality Delft faience from the first half of the 18th century.

The central motif shows a stylized flower or fruit bowl with a fan motif, surrounded by a broad border with alternating large floral ornaments and geometric panels. The composition is clearly inspired by Chinese Kangxi porcelain, which at the time served as a model for many Delft pottery makers.

The back bears the mark of De Drie Klokken, one of the well-known Delft faience factories of the 18th century.

Condition
The dish is in good antique condition, with no restorations. Only light rim wear and normal signs of use and aging, entirely appropriate for its age. The glaze has a beautiful authentic appearance.
