Themed collection - Ashanti dolls - Ghana

Collection of four original AKUABA Ashanti maternity dolls from Ghana. The dolls are hand-carved and hand-decorated, with typical markings, earth-toned colors, bead necklaces, cords and shells.
These dolls, called AKUABA, with a disk-shaped head (one with a rectangular head), decorated with carved wooden ornaments, were used by priests and by women seeking fertility.
They come from an antique collection in Tuscany. Collected by Italian Catholic missionaries in Africa. In total, the doll collection comprises seven pieces of varying size and wood (see last photo).
Measurements:
1. Banbola - height 35.5 cm, width 13 cm, depth 8.5 cm. Weight 194 g.
2. Doll - height 24 cm, rectangular head 12 x 9.2 cm, depth 4 cm. Weight 80 g.
3. Doll - height 22.8 cm, width 5.8 cm, depth 3.5 cm. Weight 182 g.
4. Doll - height 22 cm, width 7.5 cm, depth 4 cm. Weight 79 g.
The condition of the dolls is good; one doll has been glued at the neck (see photo).
