Description from the seller
Offered is a beautiful and decorative set of two identical EGLO design lamps, executed in a combination of metal, clear glass and frosted glass. The lamps have a pronounced modern and architectural form and together form a particularly beautiful, symmetrical pair.
The design is characterized by a sturdy, square metal base on which two slim vertical supports are placed. These carry the upper light element, which is built up from several layers of glass and metal. The combination of the transparent, thicker glass plate with the frosted glass parts creates depth and an attractive layered appearance. At the front there is a rectangular element with a brushed metal finish.
When the lamps are switched on, the light is spread through and along the different glass layers. This results in a soft, warm and indirect lighting effect, with the edges of the glass being nicely accentuated. The light also highlights the texture of the brushed metal. As a result, the lamps are not only functional light sources, but also decorative objects when they are lit.
An attractive detail is that each lamp is individually equipped with a cord dimmer. This allows the light intensity to be adjusted to taste, from subtle mood lighting to a considerably stronger illumination. The two lamps can be operated independently.
EGLO – Art. No. 90042
The original factory label is still on the lamp. It shows, among other things, the following technical data:
* Manufacturer: EGLO
* Article number: 90042
* Socket / light source: GY6.35
* Light source voltage: 12V
* Maximum power: 1 × 35 Watt per lamp
* Mains voltage: 220–240V
* Frequency: 50/60Hz
* Operation: cord dimmer
* Quantity: 2 identical lamps
The dimmers are housed in a transparent/smoke-grey plastic housing, allowing part of the technology to remain visible. This fits well with the technical and modernist character of the lamps.
Design and materials
The lamps have a clean geometric design that is typical of modern European interior design from the late 20th century to the early 21st century. Straight lines and square shapes are combined with varying transparencies and metal finishes.
The main materials are metal, brushed metal, chrome-colored/polished metal, clear glass and frosted glass.
The upper part is particularly interesting. The different glass plates are placed behind and in front of each other, so the design changes from every viewing angle. Also from the side, the thickness and layered construction of the glass is clearly visible.
Especially striking as a pair
Although each lamp can be used separately, in my opinion the design truly comes into its own when both units are placed as a pair. Because of their identical shape, a strong symmetry is created.
They are, for example, very suitable for placement:
on a large sideboard, on two side tables, on either side of a sofa, on nightstands, on a sidetable or symmetrically on either side of a piece of art or a mirror.
Due to their relatively tall, narrow construction they have a clear presence in the interior without taking up a lot of space.
